Reno Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing

(Reno, Nevada - NV, USA)

Although Reno plays second fiddle to the king of gambling centers, namely Las Vegas, Reno has many established casinos which have become major tourist attractions in their own right. Reno also boasts a surprising amount of cultural and historical tourist attractions, while the Wild Island Family Adventure Park provides water-based fun for everyone.

The city of Reno lies in a region where some of the world's best ski slopes reside at nearby Lake Tahoe, with many seasonal outdoor activities and attractions just a short trip from Reno.

Casinos

Reno's casinos are the main draw to this city in the desert and they have been the highlight since the late 1940s, after the Club Cal-Neva was established in 1948. Another popular casino that opened about the same time is Harrah's and it too is still going strong. Reno is constantly being improved upon and most of the major casinos are getting in on the act to keep the whole town vibrant and moving with the times. As with Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Reno's casinos remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is the biggest attraction in the region outside of Reno, especially in the winter skiing season, where more than a dozen world-class resorts scattered around the lake provide excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. The area is within easy reach of Reno and is also well geared up for summer holiday makers, with plenty of hiking and other outdoor activity opportunities.
