(Reno, Nevada - NV, USA)

View of the RenoThe Reno-Tahoe International Airport lies just to the edge of the Washoe County, Nevada city of Reno and serves its metropolitan district, areas of eastern California and the western region of Nevada. It is a popular destination with tourists year-round due to its location close to Lake Tahoe, with its winter skiing and summer holiday resorts. Recent alterations have been made to the terminal, in order to accommodate new state-of-the-art body-scanners.

The airport is one of the busiest in the region, handling over five million passengers every year, with Southwest being the carrier offering the most flights. Other US full-service airlines offering domestic routes are American, Delta, US Airways and United, with favorite destinations including Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, San Francisco, Denver, Salt Lake City and Seattle.

Set up against the Sierra Nevada foothills, Reno is almost as famous as Las Vegas for its casinos and nightlife, although the stunning natural beauty of the region and its outdoor sports options attract as many visitors year-round as do its gambling dens. As a result, the airport complex is growing fast, with over US$10 million spent on its development during the last decade.
