Reno Tourist Information and Reno Tourism
(Reno, Nevada - NV, USA)
Although the city of Reno is a smaller version of Las Vegas, Reno nevertheless still possesses the 'wow factor'. Reno's main tourist trade is based around its impressive 24-hour glitzy casino complexes, earning Reno the famous title of 'Biggest Little City in the World'. The city of Reno is also known for its seasonal outdoor sports, which are in plentiful supply due to its closeness to Lake Tahoe.
Reno also offers many popular wedding chapels and is located in a particularly scenic setting, at the base of the snowcapped Sierra Nevada Mountain, with the attractive Truckee River meandering through the very heart of Reno.
Downtown Reno is located to the north of the Truckee River and to the south of Interstate 80. Tourism is encouraged in the Reno area and many of the city's main tourist attractions are situated along Virginia Street, between 1st and 6th Streets. The main tourist information office in Reno is the Visitors Center on North Center Street, which is open from Monday through Friday. Here you will find extensive tourism information about the city's main sights, landmarks, tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants and shopping centers.
With a host of flashy, luxurious high-rise casino hotels and chain motels throughout downtown Reno, the city offers a large selection of affordable accommodation. Hotel rates in Reno tend to rise during the weekend and during seasonal events. Many of Reno's most popular hotels can be found in the heart of the city, along the main strip area, and around nearby Sparks and Spanish Springs regions. Further hotels are clustered around the nearby Reno Tahoe International Airport (RNO). More information on Reno Hotels.
Reno offers countless tourist attractions, including the city's glitzy casinos - vast complexes which have become Reno's main draw card, often including accommodation, extensive gambling facilities, restaurants and live shows; Lake Tahoe - one of the area's top attractions, particularly during the winter, with a number of popular skiing resorts and outdoor activities; and Wild Island Family Adventure Park - in the Sparks area of Reno, home to many exciting rides, fast water slides and miniature golf courses, popular with all the family.
